ABOUT

Baltimore Tom

Hello there!

I'm Tom from Maryland. This site is where I share thoughts and experiments. It's a space for exploring tech, refining workflows, and documenting what I learn.

Professional Focus

I'm always looking for better ways to automate work, simplify systems, and solve problems with practical tools. I specialize in web development and data workflows, often using JavaScript, Google Apps Script, and Python to create efficient, usable solutions.

I like turning messy processes into clean, repeatable systems. My work is grounded in problem-solving, and I enjoy building things that make work easier for real people.

Beyond Tech

Family comes first. I'm lucky to share life with my wife and three sons, and they keep things interesting, challenging, and full of meaning.

When I'm not working, I'm often reading (usually the classics), watching Baltimore sports, or tinkering with systems. I moderate the Orioles subreddit, track UMD athletics, and always have a side project running in the background.

Family History

A Connection to Maryland's Founding

My connection to Maryland runs deeper than geography. My eighth great-grandfather, John Lewger (1602–1665), was one of the founding figures of Maryland's colonial government. He served as the colony's first Secretary of the Province and first Attorney General, helping establish the legal and administrative systems that shaped early Maryland.

Eight generations later, I work for the State of Maryland. The work is still about systems, records, governance, and public service. That continuity—nearly four centuries apart—gives my career a deeper sense of place and perspective.
